Prior to joining IDinsight, Young worked for a Micro-Finance company that aimed to give micro-loans to women that desired to start small businesses in Malawi. While working for the company, Young founded the Women at Risk Program which targeted to extend the micro-loan services to women in shelters and impoverished areas. Young also gained research experience working as a Research Assistant at the University of Malawi. Young holds a Master of Arts in Applied Economics degree from The Columbian College of Arts and Sciences, The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a minor in Psychology from Chancellor College, The University of Malawi.
