Ben Brockman is a Director at IDinsight, based in Washington, D.C. In his role on the Data Science, Engineering, and Monitoring Systems Team (DSEM) Ben leads partnerships and various internal functions for the organization. Additionally, Ben serves as the Director on numerous data science and data systems projects across Asia and Africa. His work has focused on helping Educate Girls to scale the use of machine learning to locate 1.6 million out of school girls across Northern India, working with Praekelt.org to use data science to track and fight COVID-19 in South Africa, and building technical solutions to improve data quality for surveys and admin data across projects. Previously, Ben started his career with 3 years with IDinsight in Asia and Africa as one of the organizations’ original batch of Associates. Over those years, Ben worked on a sanitation RCT in Cambodia, a pediatric HIV care evaluation in Zambia, and on a variety of projects in India (based in Bangalore, Delhi, and Patna). Prior to rejoining IDinsight in 2017, Ben worked on the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign both at headquarters and as an organizing fellow. Ben holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations, magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania and an MPA in International Development (MPA/ID) from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a Center for Public Leadership Fellow.
