Krishanu Chakraborty is an Associate Director leading the Data on Demand team at IDinsight, based in New Delhi, India. In his current role, Krishanu leads the Data on Demand team at IDinsight. He leads an interdisciplinary team to develop new approaches to impact-oriented fast, accurate, and affordable data for responsive policies and programs. In the next year, we aim to scale our Data on Demand platform to pan-India and selected geographies in Africa and South-East Asia. Previously, Krishanu led the Learning Partnership team for Financial Inclusion with NITI Ayog to identify operational and behavioural levers to increase the uptake and usage of financial products and services among the poor across the 27 NITI focus districts. Krishanu brings over eight years of experience in leading large-scale research programs, program management, performance standardization, policy and strategy formulation in private organizations, government, bilateral and multilateral agency-funded project. Prior to joining IDinsight, Krishanu was the Project Manager (Research) at J-PAL South Asia managing the education research portfolio of Prof. Karthik Muralidharan in India. Krishanu has also worked across consulting giants (PricewaterhouseCoopers India) in their government advisory arm as a social sector consultant, a Social Entrepreneurship venture (AISECT), and as a software engineer with Cognizant. While in J-PAL, Krishanu was a Teaching Assistant for the MIT – J-PAL Micro-masters course in Data, Economics and Development Policy [ Rounds: 1, 2, 3]. Krishanu was also a Lecturer for Data Visualization at the J-PAL Global Staff Meet (2017) & J-PAL Global Staff Training (2017). Krishanu holds a PGDM from Xaviers’ Institute of Management, Bhubaneshwar and a Bachelor’s in Technology from West Bengal University of Technology. Krishanu speaks Bengali, Hindi, and English.
